Where is Preusser Jewelers located in Grand Rapids?
Preusser Jewelers relocated to East Grand Rapids at 1200 E Paris Ave SE STE 2, near Corewell Health and Calvin University in February 2023. Our downtown location is no longer open, but we have the same great staff and excellent service!

Can Preusser Jewelers in Grand Rapids create custom jewelry?
Yes! At Preusser Jewelers, we pride ourselves on our fantastic custom jewelry pieces. Our in-house jewelry studio is led by a highly skilled jeweler who can bring your vision to life with a one-of-a-kind design tailored to your exact preferences.
The process begins with a conversation—bring us your inspiration, and together we’ll brainstorm the perfect design. From there, we’ll create a drawing of your concept, allowing us to make any necessary adjustments before proceeding. Next, we’ll craft a 3-D cad-rendering or hand carved wax model, giving you a tangible preview of your piece before it’s cast in metal and adorned with gemstones.
Once you approve the model, we’ll cast and finish your custom jewelry entirely in-house. In just 4 to 6 weeks, you’ll receive a stunning piece that perfectly reflects your unique style.
How do I know what size ring I need?

Can you repair or resize my jewelry?
Yes! Our expert jewelers can repair most damaged pieces, restore worn jewelry, and can resize rings, bracelets, necklaces, and more.
Do you offer appraisals, and how often should I have my jewelry appraised?
Yes! We offer Professional Appraisals for insurance purposes or for valuing pieces for sale or consignment. Please call or email us for more information. It’s generally recommended to have your jewelry appraised every 2 to 5 years. This helps ensure that the value reflects current market conditions, especially if there have been significant changes in the price of precious metals or gemstones. Regular appraisals are particularly important for maintaining adequate insurance coverage.
What is the best way to care for and clean my jewelry?
- Regular Cleaning: For diamonds and gemstones (not pearls or opals) soaking in 4 parts water to 1 part ammonia, and gently scrubbing with an old toothbrush, then rinsing with water can remove oils, and loosen lotions, and hair products, and general build-up of dirt.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep your jewelry away from household cleaners, chlorine, or any harsh chemicals that can tarnish or damage metals and gemstones. Always remove your jewelry before using these substances.
- Store Properly: When not in use, store your jewelry in a soft pouch or a jewelry box with compartments to avoid scratches and prevent pieces from tangling or rubbing against each other.
- Professional Maintenance: Bring your jewelry to Preusser Jewelers for regular yearly inspections and professional cleaning, especially for pieces with gemstones or intricate designs. This ensures your jewelry stays in top condition and any wear and tear is addressed promptly.

What is the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds are identical to mined diamonds in chemical makeup and are graded the same way as natural diamonds.
Lab-grown diamonds are true diamonds, not synthetic cubic zirconia or moissanite, and are graded with the same Gemological Institute of America (GIA) standards as mined diamonds. Our loose lab grown diamonds come with certification from GIA or IGI.
