    • Before packing a jewelry piece for your trip, take a second to ask yourself, “Am I really going to wear this?” If you find that you’re unsure, it’s probably best to leave it behind securely locked in a home safe or elsewhere. It’s all too easy to overpack for a vacation, but less is always best when it comes to jewelry. That way, there’s less of a chance that a piece you love could get lost or stolen. 2. Never check baggage with fine jewelry inside. Have you ever reached your final destination only to find out that the airline somehow lost your checked bag? Although checked bags are sometimes recovered, that’s not always the case, and it would be awful to lose luggage that contains valuable jewelry and have no way to recover it. The best way to prevent this worst-case scenario is to keep your valuable jewelry on you at all times while you’re at the airport.3. Invest in travel cases for your jewelry. Instead of packing all your jewelry into one bag, it’s best to wrap it up individually or invest in a special travel case for it.
